Tea + Vacation

I've got a couple days of OT to work, but other than that, I'm on vacation for the first time in a while. Of course I get out of bed at 5:40 on my first day off. Anyways, my latest obsession here lately is GetGlue. Collecting virtual stickers to eventually have them mailed to me (for free) is alot more exciting then just posting random shit on FB and seeing if anyone likes it lol. I'm gonna get the S2 out of the closet sometime here soon and work on my first DJ style mix. I was kinda hoping I could find a decent pair of headphones for cheap. That ain't happenin' apparently. I've watched plenty of tutorial videos and I have an idea of what I want to do. I spent alot of time last year making my own tunes but I fell short while mastering them. Going from track to track my sound levels are all over the place. I'm hoping that picking up a DJ controller will help me get a better feel for how electronic music should sound, and then eventually take that knowledge and start making my own tracks again. The following 2 Skrillex tracks have been playing on my stereo and in my head all week long. What have you been listening to?

Out of the brooder and into the coop....again!

We had a couple of chicken deaths over the weekend. One was a baby Belgian D'uccle which I believe had "brooder pneumonia" which isn't contagious (THANKFULLY) because our Silkies, Wyandottes, and Cream Legbars are sharing the same box. The other death was a 6 week old Brown Bantam Leghorn. We recently moved her and another bantam to the coop. I believe she fell off the roost in the middle of the night and broke her neck :*(. Nothing we can do about that, sadly. Today we are moving 24 Golden Comets out to the coop. They'll be on craigslist as soon as they have all their feathers. Most of them were freebies from Southern States. Every bag of food came with 6 free chickens, and I just so happened to need food for the ones I already had! lol... Oh well, time to get the kiddo on the bus!

Early morning tea... and a BLOG POST? wha?

A whole lot of things have happened since I last updated this blog. Musically, I made a continuous mix of Korn's "The Path of Totality" which came out last December. I really like it but I haven't had any input from the 20+ people that downloaded it. Personally, I bought an awesome house outside of the city (yay!) for a good price and had it renovated. It's finally done. We started raising chickens, which I've been waiting to do again for about 4 years. Hopefully by next year we can start incubating our own eggs and selling chicks/eggs while trying to improve the Cream Legbar breed. Those birds won't be delivered until next month. Here's hoping finances will be there at the end of the month. I plan on buying a Traktor DJ controller with software to get back into doing some music. So after not updating this blog for 11 months, here I am.

I have republished Project Elevate with 2 extra tracks as I have moved from using FL studio to Ableton Live. I am awaiting certification by Jamendo and as soon as its live I'll make links available for everyone to hear. Moving right along...

I still seem to work best without decent sleep. I came up with a catchy synthesizer bass lick and put it in FL. Trying to figure out melodies and whether or not this is only going to be instrumental....
